Garage door seals – Sealing garage doors is extremely important. Sealing the garage door offers many benefits. Help keep your electricity bill low, keeping the air war in the summer and cool air in the winter. New weather stripping will also provide protection against unwanted pests and rodents. The mice only need about ¼ inch to get into their garage, and other insects and snakes need much less space to enter.

The garage door seals exterior process is not difficult. Open the garage door to a comfortable viable level. You should be able to reach the lower edge of the garage door. Place a clamp that is under the roller on the track. This will prevent the door from moving. Remove the rubber seal. Pull the rubber gasket on the left side of the door off your lane. Apply a good wood sealer to the bottom of the door if it is made of wood. Use a flat head screwdriver to remove any staples, or to raise the nail heads on the track. Once all debris is removed, apply the wood sealer with a brush to the entire bottom of the wooden garage door to help prolong its life.

Apply the weather strip. Use one hand to keep the weather stripping down as your other staple handles the weather strip on the underside of the door edge. Pull the airtight weather-strip along the side, starting from the left and first necessity in place. Do not pull too tight, as it will have an extension of the weather stripping. Lock the weathers tripper in place with nails for the roof. Roof nails are used because they have a larger head for added security. Start at the left side of the door and position the rubber gasket on the track of the garage door. Give the weather-strip a slight crease and slide across the track. Leave at least ¼ inch on both sides of the garage door. Leaving excess weather-stripping at the ends of the door will help garage door seals. Measure and cut the remaining weather-strip with a razor. Tips and warnings. Secure the garage door in place before performing any work on the door.
